Australian Wildfire Crisis Donation - Update

In an early response to the Australian wildfire disaster, the Rhinebeck Animal Hospital Helping Hand Fund donated $2,500.00 to the Taronga Western Plains Zoo wildlife hospital in Dubbo, Australia. An email was received stating they received the money and were very grateful.

This prompted us to reach out to clients and the community to continue the fundraising efforts where we would match the first $2,500.00. The response from the community and our clients was amazing. They gave $8,013.12 plus our $2,500.00 match for a total of $10,513.12! This money, as well as a list of the donors, has been sent to the New South Wales Information Rescue and Education Services (WIRES) in New South Wales, Australia. This is a top-rated and far-reaching fully volunteer organization focusing on this natural disaster. They are working diligently to provide medical care to the injured wildlife as well as providing wildlife survivors with food and shelter. They have responded to us via email with a very appreciative “thank you” for our support, especially from so far away.

We cannot thank you enough for your donations to such a worthy animal welfare cause. We would also like to thank the Rhinebeck Community Forum for allowing us to use their media platform to reach out to so many generous individuals.

If you would like to follow the WIRES rescue effort or know someone that would like to donate to the cause, please visit the WIRES website at www.wires.org.au.

Many, many thanks,

The Doctors and Staff of Rhinebeck Animal Hospital
