Commitment to the Environment

• Electronic Medical Records – We use software that makes use of an Electronic Medical Records system. This means that all patient medical records and client records are recorded on computers. This has lead to a substantial reduction in paper use.
  
  
• Recycling – All scrap paper, cardboard and bottles are recycled.
  
  
• Paperless Statements – Paperless statements option; instead of printing invoices, they can be viewed through e-mail and stored electronically.
  
  
• Lighting – Light fixtures utilize reflectors to reduce number of light bulbs, and contain high-efficiency components. Light-switches contain occupancy sensors so the lights turn off while certain rooms are unoccupied.
  
  
• Power-Saving Computers – Computers automatically turn off at night and while not in use.
  
  
• Bio-Degradable Plastic Bags – Client shopping bags are bio-degradable as are the pet-waste bags that you see throughout Rhinebeck and the surrounding communities.
  
  
• Double-Sided Printing – Printers print on both sides of the paper, which halves paper usage.                                                                           
• Electronic Time Clock – Manage all attendance records electronically.
  
  
• Furnaces – High efficiency furnaces for heating that are over 95% efficient, so they use less fossil fuel.
  
  
• Programmable Thermostats – Programmable thermostats are installed throughout the hospital to efficiently control heating and cooling, including when spaces are unoccupied.
  
  
• High-Efficiency Ventilation - Ventilation system uses an air exchanger that is tempers fresh, incoming outside air with outgoing hospital air.
